We loved this hike! There weren’t a lot of people and it was a beautiful Southern Utah setting. River crossings were easily done with dry feet! Spring could warrant water shoes.

Scenic hike through a mixture of topographies, even a bit of river walking (good on a hot day) before ending in a wonderful cliff/cave. The start is a rather disappointing downhill sprint (knowing you'll have to climb back up!) but once on the main trail it is relatively even and not that steep at all. There is plenty of shade as you get further in the Canyon and the views are spectacular. It;s about 5 miles out and back, so allow 2.5 - 3 hours depending on your pace.

Parking - There is a car park at the trail head, if that is full there is another smaller one about another 400 yards further up the hill.

This hike is a gorgeous 5 mile trek through the west side of Zion national park, it is right off of I-15. It is mostly flat and 5 miles round trip. You frequently cross taylor creek on this hike - probably around 50 times - so I’d bring an extra pair of socks just in case. The stepping stones are usually fine to keep your feet dry but this would be a good hike to bring a trekking stick on. The trail ends with a double alcove cave. There are also bathrooms at the trailhead.

Apart from the trailhead, theres also a beautiful overlook of the Kolob canyons that you can drive to (about 5 minutes past the Taylor creek trailhead).

WOW! No idea when we started the hike what to expect, reviews were mixed. It is a GREAT hike if you want to get away from crowds and heat in Zion. It is NOT a short walk. It took us 1.5 hours to arrive at what was BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL. The double arch alcove is worth the hike!

We messed up though, when we saw it we were pretty loud and yelling about it’s beauty, then realized there was others enjoying the spirituality of the location in reverence and silence.
Of course we apologized and then became quiet!!
We were just excited!!
You are in shade vast majority of the time. Hike is not strenuous but long. You will cross over the creek ALOT, but super doable. The water was down so our shoes never got wet. We did all the big draw hikes and this was one of our favorites. We literally only passed about 15 people in the 5 mile round trip.

The trail is down in the Kolob Canyons, following a shallow stream much of the way. There are dozens of stream crossings along the way, but we found it easy to cross the stream by stepping on rocks. The hiking is interesting, but the views are not that impressive. Parking is limited, so come early.

We loved it. Great scenery. Easy for the kids. We went in the afternoon and the setting sun was amazing on the cliffs. After the hike continue up the road to the lookout. The view is breathtaking. We got to the overlook around 4:30pm and the sun made the rock walls shine!

Fabulous Trail. You are in and out of the trees which gives you some cover from the sun and the heat. You have fabulous views of some of the deep red cliffs most of the way. The trail flows the creek throughout to the extent that I counted 44 river crossings on the return or about 88 for the trip out and back. Not to worry though, at least in September, the creek is properly named in that it is just a small flow of water and you barely get your feet wet during the crossing. They double arch (non-see threw) is at the end of the 2.5 mile trail. It is quite beautiful but I thought the trail and views along the way where the best.

What's not to love? The hike was exactly 2.5 miles one way. Went in a group of four. Had a lot of fun. Some parts got muddy and slippery due to ice and snow melting but was still very doable. Wear hiking boots, sneakers might not cut it.

I also didn't realize that Taylor Creek led to the Double Arches, which was a very nice surprise.

Taylors Creek in the Kolob Canyon section of Zion National Park is a pleasant hike through lovely scenery. Unless there has been recent rain, there is no need to get your feet wet in spite of having to cross the creek a total of about forty times. The total length of the hike is 5 miles (8km) return. If making the trek in Spring or Autumn, have a warm jacket or anorak in your backpack, as the last third of the hike between the cliffs gets no sun.
