A group of 28 of us were able to book the Chalet for a Mid Winter Christmas and it was fabulous. The staff had gone to so much trouble with the decor and table layout and we had the use of the verandah with the buffet meal set up on the lower level. Nigel was our Chef extraordinaire, Dawn our hard working ever attentive Hostess and Justine, our first point of contact through whom we had organised this group function. The food was outstanding. There aren't many places these days where you can find a buffet meal and a 'private' space like the Chalet. Here at 7 Summits, they have found the secret formula. Our thanks to the whole team. Not like the mountain but also cheaper and easier than going to the mountain.
Double glove because it gets cold (maybe because there isn't sun) but you won't need goggles or sunnies.
My biggest bug-bear are the frequent power cuts. We've been a few times and they seem overly frequent. Why?
Overall, it's awesome to have this facility on our doorstep for learning and trying out new gear but a few tweaks (specifically to the delivery of power to lift operation) would make for a much better experience

I've been going to Snowplanet for a few months now. Overall it is an excellent place to go to have fun in the snow. Over this time, I've progressed from being a first-timer on a snowboard to now being confident, if not competent.
I spent a long time on the learners' slope. This is a very safe place to learn. It feels steep when you start, but you realise it's almost flat later. There is no help with how to snowboard unless you buy a lesson. This is reasonable because you can choose what services you do and don't pay for. I had a friend give me a few pointers, and then a few weeks later, I paid for a lesson. The lesson was very worthwhile in making the transition to being able to make the turns from side to side that signify that you really can snowboard.
The facilities are in pretty good condition. The equipment works. There is a magic carpet to the top of the beginners' slope, which anyone can use without needing practice. The lifts to the top of the main facility need a bit more training, and you are likely to need a few tries before you master them – there is no need to worry about this as everyone goes through the same experience of needing a few.
The staff are accommodating and friendly. Especially so if you are nice to them back. The only exception I have experienced was from a manager who is just not suited to a customer-facing role. This individual decided to take it upon themselves to accuse my best friend of accepting money to give me a lesson – a genuinely absurd suggestion. I spent a long time explaining to this individual that their behaviour was not acceptable, and it's fair to say they never quite grasped that making false accusations isn't representative of good customer service. Put in perspective, this is one bad apple out of many lovely customer service experiences.
I have bought an annual family pass for about $2.5k. This is an outstanding value when you compare the price of a gym. I go for an hour or two most days.
The facility can get very busy, but it's pretty quiet in the hour after opening and towards closing time. Google Maps can let you know how busy it is too.
Most customers behave respectfully and safely. However, some engage in dangerous behaviours such as straight-lining from the top with no ability to steer or stop. There is a sign prohibiting this, but you do see the occasional person doing this. This is very worrying as having someone like this knock you over from behind due to their inability to control themselves could lead to a severe injury. I tend to leave for the day if I see this sort of thing happening. It's hard for the staff to notice this, but they will help if you point someone out who is doing this.
If you go more than once in a blue moon, you will save a lot by buying secondhand gear. If you are renting equipment, on the other hand, then this will get expensive pretty quickly. The entrance prices, if you have gear, are very reasonable.
Snowplanet is a premier facility that provides a ten out of ten experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Thanks, MrYellowDuck for such a great in-depth and honest review of our facilities through the customer's eyes. Some constructive feedback which we can build upon.

Total waste of time and money.
Everything is ridiculously expensive, $40 entry, $28 for jacket and pants, extra $9 for gloves and if you’re skiing, $47 to hire gear till you need ski poles and it’s an additional $2.
If you want the chair lift you have to pay $6 for a card to use, and the lines are huge. Waited in line for one only to be told to use the other one for your first time. So stood in like for 10 minutes to be told I need to wait in another line. Could have at least been signage to tell you you have to use a specific lift for your first time.
Loads of experienced skiers with no dedicated areas which makes it really difficult and dangerous for beginners to learn how to use everything.
To top it all off the staff here are extremely rude. Not at all interested in helping or offering any advice. Not even a 10 second speech on how to do your boots up. If you want this information - you need to pay for a lesson.
People on the counter aren’t interested in serving people, couldn’t even get a smile from the staff on the front counter.
Ordered a bowl of wedges for $16 and they were revolting. Tasted as though they were cooked in water.
Overall a severely disappointing experience for the amount of money it took. No point in coming here unless you’re an experienced skiier with their own gear.

We booked online for the Winter wonderland area for four, for an hour. It included boot and helmet hire. It was quite a fun time going through the area and going down the slide on a toboggan or tube. The area covered about a quarter of the lower area of the snow area.
The snow was a bit icy but it would be a nice place to learn, both snowboard or ski. You do need a refundable card to be able to access the lifts to get to the top of the area. You can hire all the gear you need there but you are also able to bring in your own gear. There is plenty of parking about, just keep an eye out for the Snoplanet sign once you get off the motorway for Silverdale.
It would be good to book online so that you aren't disappointed when you get there.

We held our Social Club even here on Saturday. Our group of about 30 did the skiing and/or snowboarding and then a 3 course dinner in the restaurant. It was a fantastic event, we had rave reviews from all our members. The food was really really good and was served in a timely manner and no mix ups which is pretty good for a group of that size. Very impressed and we will do this even again!!

The kids had a good time having a snowboarding lesson and the (young) staff in the gear room were helpful to a point that didn’t cross their obviously green customer experience line.
The kicker for us was the cafe - we ordered a pizza and fries and two sprites. The pizza was TWENTY SIX BUCKS for a 12’. The fries (awful) were TEN BUCKS and the 420ml bottles of drink were SIX BUCKS EACH. These are European mountain prices. The service was dreadful too. Lacklustre and unfriendly is an underestimation.
In these tight times of all domestic experiences competing with each other for the kiwi spend only those with a dynamic team who love their jobs and competitively priced hospitality will pop out the other side intact. We have no problem paying 26 bucks for a pizza if it was tasty, made with love and presented with a smile. Great service is not rocket science - crap service highlights the underlying culture of the business. #disappointed.

The gear rental area was a bit crazy without enough staff and the rental gear it’s self was worn out and needed updating. Once into the main area there was plenty of space on the slope and the two t bars made for short wait times. Overall good fun for the whole family

Merci
Hi I would just like to know the price for two adults and what equipment we would need? The website is not running on my phone for some reason
Thanks in advance Michelle
