This could be a nice place to take your kids to ride their bikes in cooler weather. There is not much to look at and it is very hot in the warmer months.

Easy access off the highway. Lots of parking. Well-maintained path for the most part, with a couple of exceptions. Bridge under repair. Not too many people, and not too many bicyclists. Easy walk surrounded by trees most of the way.

We took our toddler out to ride his bike on the trail, not knowing what to expect. The end of the bridge crossing the river was under construction, so we had to walk through a little mud, then the trail further down was completely closed for some other construction project (couldn’t tell what it was). Only shade along the whole trail was where the ramp crosses under the bridge. If it had been a cooler day, that wouldn’t have been a problem.

This is an awesome place to go for a walk. Nice concrete pathway, walking bridge under the highway, plenty of parking and busy enough to feel safe. Path is long enough to make it worth while. Nice scenery, you will meet cyclists, joggers, and walkers.
Don't recommend summer, unless you are an early bird. Obvious reasons. We live in central Texas.

We got new bikes and took our first ride on Cottonbelt Trail. It was an easy, mostly flat, safe ride. We had some difficulty finding it as our GPS took us way out of the way We'll definitely go back and maybe walk our dogs soon. The only disappointment was no dog poop bags or trash cans and lots of piles dog owners left on the trail.

We had this on our itinerary to get a little exercise while driving to Waco.
First we tried to find the Harris Creek Rd. entrance but didn't locate it.
The directions were a little off but we were able to find a gravel parking area on the highway and by the path. We weren't sure about leaving the vehicle parked here but were just taking a short walk and it was okay.
This is a paved walkway along an old railroad line that was fairly deserted the day we visited during the week.
We only came across one other walker.
There is a bridge to walk over that crosses the South Bosque River. Just at that area it was an unpleasant odor probably due to resent rains and pile up of foliage under/around the bridge area.
The day we went it was very sunny and quite warm as there isn't much shade to speak of.
We didn't walk the entire length of it since we didn't start at the trail-head.
It was quiet except for the highway noise but a nice walk and if we had gone further in either direction we would have been further from the highway maybe.

The trail is built on the old Cottonbelt KATY train tack. You can park at the nearby park or lot and walk or ride without fear of being hit by car. Its about a 4 mile trail and is very pleasant during most of the year, but little shade for the real heat of the summer.

The Trail is 2.3 miles long. Concrete paved. Some is uphill, mostly flat. Parkinglot small, no restrooms.
You need to bring water, if you walk the whole Trail.

We come from a town with one of the nicest Urban trails in United States, so it's hard for other ones to match up to that. This is a nicely paved trail that is in between some trees and fields. Nothing special. But if you don't have anything else around in the area, I'm sure this is really nice for families and joggers.
