Fab friendly stop for a beer with plenty of choice and crazy good value. As well as plenty of keg and cask lines, there are bottles and cans, non alcoholic beers, wine by the glass and bottle plus spirits and cocktails. We stopped in while staying a few doors down and ended up going again the next day. Great friendly atmosphere and fab decor with the walls lined with pump clips. Highly recommend :)

We had visited in the past and decided to pop in during our latest visit to Newcastle and wasn't disappointed. Good selection of well kept cask and keg beers and other products, a number of which were local. Well worth a visit.

Shocking service from the barman, asked us to hurry up with the order multiple times, great venue though but better customer service required.

Popped in here while on our way to the boiler shop,and so glad we did. The barman (forgot his name) was excellent. Great chat with the crowd at the bar and even played a couple of reyton tracks for us. Drink pretty good to. Will deffo return on our next trip here

My twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into the Split Chimp as we were wandering around this part of town and what a great find and what a great time we had.
Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, a cool industrial style decorative scheme, set over two floors, eclectic decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar ,its a very cool bar indeed.
We were here on a Sunday afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the bar team, after a quick study of their beer range which I must say is well thought out we both opted to have ale's from Three King's Brewery, these were served in pristine condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and planned out the day ahead while sipping our ale's.
My ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced ale bursting with taste, a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish, a really refreshing ale on such a hot afternoon.
We both really enjoyed our ale's in here, only stayed for the one each before moving on and for a first time visit to The Split Chimp had a great time.
The Split Chimp is easy to locate along Westgate Road.
Opening hours are;
Monday & Tuesday, Closed.
Wednesday to Saturday, Open from 2pm.
Sunday, Open from Midday.
A wonderful bar,most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Called in several times during our weekend stay, made to feel welcome & had some great beers. Served by Matt who suggested different beers to try.

What a lovely little find.
They had a different array of music playing that wasn't too loud, but comfortable.
We had a lovely cocktail of spiced rum and rhubarb cider, called a Vanilla Nice. They were blooming lush. A round of 3 drinks cost £13.50.
Lovely quirky place, if you love ales and different guest beers, definitely worth a visit.

Why would a small pub on the seafront stop dogs going inside. It’s a spit and sawdust pub with no soft furnishings. Numerous dog owners have used the pub for years and apparently “because the owner is sick of mopping up dog piss” they alienate their core customer. No worries we’ll go to dog friendly Left Luggage.

Got directed to this micro pub by a local. We received a very friendly welcome, drank some great ales and had a lovely time.

The Split Chimp is a superb micro-pub that offers a great range of beers and was one of Newcastle's first micro-pub's.
Located on Westgate Road and housed in a railway arch'this superb micro-pub has a great interior with a ground floor area and a superb first floor seating area.This great micro-pub serves superb beers and is one of three Split Chimp micro-pub's which are located in Newcastle'Whitley Bay and also Seaton Delaval.
When we visited here on Sunday this place was rather busy so we sat upstairs and we ordered a couple of beers which where an excellent ale from the Three Kings brewery which were superb and well priced.
This is a superb micro-pub and one we will visit again as I liked the atmosphere in this superb micro-pub and there beer range is superb.Very easy to get to from High Level Bridge North East bus stop you walk along Westgate road.
(This is my first review of the Split Chimp).
