Lieu spirituel très inspirant. Calme et apaisant pour faire tomber la pression. Très bien entretenu.

Great visit to this spiritual place! Normally when you do your tour they will it bring you here. This beautiful place is worth exploring located in the north east of Mauritius! Peace and divinity and you also get to visit a beautiful park and seek god's blessings. Do visit!

This temple is on the shores of a river and very near the mouth of the said river.the garden is full of fruit plants,birds,it is very pleasent to just walk there and watch an enjoy nature.

Le site sacré, un endroit idyllique, est dédié à Ganesha. Il mérite la visite. Le domaine est enchanteur (beau parc, à l'embouchure d'une rivière se jetant dans la mer) et plusieurs temples dédiés à Shiva et Ganesha s'y trouvent.

My wife’s niece was getting married in 2013 in Mauritius, so it was a perfect reason to visit the country. From the moment we landed we were amazed by the strong Hindu influence in the local culture. As we drove in from the airport many of the country’s major landmarks and buildings were named after Indian dignitaries egs.: – Indira Ghandi Hospital, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. We were also impressed that the degree of corruption was very low. Taxi drivers are forbidden to use handphones – even if handsfree facilities are available, so that they are not distracted – in response to our cheeky queries, we were informed that it was difficult to bribe the local policemen.
Over the next few days we took in all the beautiful tourist sites the country had to offer. We visited the Grand Bassim Sacred Lake and the Hindu Temple built next to it. The lake is a the result of a large volcanic crater and its waters are populated with fish and Giant eels. Many years ago water from the Ganges in India was brought and amidst religious rites added to the waters in this lake. A tall statue of Lord Siva was commissioned by the government of Mauritius and has been erected at the entrance to the temple. Just outside the temple we saw vendor selling sugar cane juice - we drank the best sugar cane juice that we had ever tasted in our lives – it was thick and sweet – most likely related to the rich volcanic soil in the Island. Another Hindu temple that is a must visit in Mauritius is the the Ganesha temple at the Hindu Spiritual Park, at Rivere du Rampart; it is built at a picturesque location at the point where the river flows into the Indian Ocean ; it is a beautiful, peaceful, serene place of worship. Beautiful trees adorn the park. The Murthis were beautifully carved out of stone and placed in individual building scattered throughout the park – each of these buildings were beautiful wooden structures. Besides Lord Ganesha, other Murthis in this park are that of Lord Dakshinamurthi – this faces the direction of India in the park, as a reminder of the origins of the majority of Mauritanians and Lord Muruga. The origins of the the Spiritual Park is interesting : It started with a vision experienced by the founder Gurudeva Sivaya Subramaniar Swami ; in 1986 whilst searching for a site for the temple Gurudeva visualised Lord Ganesha walking to the river to take a bath accompanied by two priests. Gurudeva was standing in the water with several sharks swimming around him. Lord Ganesha, looked at Gurudeva and instructed him to 'Just rub some oil on their noses and they will not harm you.' This vision led Gurudeva directly to this special land by the Rempart River and its lagoon. A set of stairs by the temple enables one to walk down to the sea ; I walked down these stairs and scooped up the sea water to splash and bless my family members who had accompanied us on the trip.
Other places of interest that we visited were the Black River Gorges National Park and the Chamarel 7 coloured earth park – this beautiful natural phenomenon was the result of natural erosion of Basaltic Lava to clay minerals. We also visited the central market and saw a wide array of very healthy looking juicy vegetables. We also saw the largest kidney beans ever,and bought some to take home – cooked with salted fish as a curry it makes a superb mouth watering dish.
For our family the highlight of our visit was seeing our niece Malar marry her beau Stephan in the centuries old Catholic Church of the Holy Angels followed by a grand reception in a sea side resort.
