We stuck to the well stocked beginner ponds and practiced basic fishing skills like casting and bragging about the huge fish we caught. Next time we will head to the Challenging pond for a relaxed fish at a slower pace.

Great family fun for couple of hours of fishing one afternoon… not busy outside school holidays. Bit hard to catch anything in big lake but very easy from the little ponds.. entrance fee, plus fish per kilo is a bit pricy.. $26.90/kg for trout and $35.90/kilo for salmon so caught 8 fish very easily. Staff gut fish for free.. friendly and helpful staff.. bbq areas and picnic tables look old, there’s play equipment and hobby farm pets.. clean toolets with soap.. We were only there to fish..

I came here before we could travel to the regions to test out a few frog lures. The staff were as friendly as they usually are and offered tips on where to go. Great to see a venue that actually checks you vaccination status because it makes you feel safer. It was a beautiful day as i tried the big lake first with the lures with no luck other than deciding which lure had the best action. I then switched to the channels where there are clear signs for the size of the fish and the price. There are rainbow trout, brook trout, golden trout and salmon available. 5 casts and 2 fish for dinner the fish were then weighed, cleaned and bagged by staff. This is a great spot for families with barbeques, tables and seats with some under cover and there is also a playground and mini farm zoo for the kids.

Came here on Good Friday and it was packed as expected. The drive to this fish farm is very nice and scenic. In summary, it’s a nice place for a family day out and you can go fishing if you wish. The fish is not cheap though... $31.90 a kilo for salmon & $23.90 for rainbow trout. I caught 2 fish each and it ended up being an expensive exercise. That said I’d recommend have a plan and rough idea of how many fish you wanna catch. This was actually the first time I went fishing so it’s fair to say getting a fish was pretty easy!

Yes it is a trout farm so you are guaranteed a fish but there is so much more here. Mini golf, mini zoo, kiddies playground, bbq's and picnic tables. I usually start fishing in the lake and then to get the numbers i need for a meal. Try cooking a golden trout there are subtle differences between their flesh and rainbow trout.

Although catching fish this way is a little like shooting them in a barrel, the location was great, the staff were friendly and helpful and the picnic facilities were what you'd expect. Make sure you go on a quiet day though (ie. weekday) as it can get busy and this would detract from the experience. A walk around the water lily lake was a most pleasant and easy amble.

We have come here several times previously over the last few years.
This time we traveled here to take our grandson for a fish and a meal of fresh fish.
Entry fee now over the top, $22 for entry, two adults & one child.
Caught whole uncleaned salmon were also expensive, $27 /kg the same price as clean filleted fish from the supermarket, at the supermarket you can also buy the quantity you want. Salmon at the farm vary in size up to 3 Kg. be prepared to catch alot of fish in a very short time $$$$$, caught fish are not to be returned to the water. Trout was $23.50 /Kg.
We won't be back here for a while, the place has not been upgraded and looks rough.
A decent clean up and leveling of the picnic / Play area would be advised.
We preferred the Noojee fish farm we visited a few days earlier with the other grand children, a nice drive, no entry fee just fishing, no play ground. Caught trout were $17.5 /kg from memory, Salmon were $23 / kg.
The fish also tasted fresher, less mud.

Cheap entry fee, young kids love all the animals on the farm, while parents can catch some fishes and cook them fresh at the picnic area (self service). Highly suggest to offer was an onsite restaurant, that can do the cooking for you plus offering some other food. This way, everyone would able to sit down and have a proper meal!

Came here on a quite Monday morning. Staff at the ticketing counter (a wooden store) was really friendly & helpful but the boy at the shed where we choose our rods was a bit quiet and but still polite. We went over to the challenge lake, spent about 20 minutes, gave up and went over to the pool. Within 2 minutes caught an Atlantic Salmon & within 10 minutes a good sized Rainbow trout. Took us a while getting a trout as the fishes were biting so quick once we release the line into the water that we were not quick enough to hook them. We brought our own herbs & butter, so we go the staff to clean them. I think we paid around $68 for both fishes. A little pricey but still not too bad to get my boys to experience fishing, reeling them in, cleaning them up, cooking and finally eating them. The fishes were delicious!!

My daughter and her husband and my grandson accompanied myself to visit the Australian Rainbow Trout Farm at Dandenong Area in the vicinity of Melbourne. Inside the farm are six pond with overhead nets to prevent the wild birds catch the fishes. We were able to fish Rainbow Trout (1 pink and 2 black Trout). After they are weight and cleaned, we were enjoyed the outdoor barbecue,
The kids are enjoying the various species of farm animals namely the beautiful chicken, ducks, turkeys etc. outside the fence, the are animal in the wild, such as Emu, Kanguroo, goats, small roo, and last but not least the singing Cookaburra. The winter day are bright and cool. All family members enjoy the picnic.

It should be able to handle 15 people easily although it may be busier than normal. I do not know if they take bookings. I would ask for a group discount if you do ask to book.
There are two wineries nearby but I have not visited either of them.
Yarra Ranges estate, and Monbulk Winery about 5 km from the trout farm, both close to each other. Just google them for directions.

Hi Icel,
Thankyou for visiting our farm. Note that we are a private farm and keep amenities up to consumer standards. At the time you visited we had a septic problem which since has been resolved. We have checked over all the BBQ's and there is none that are rusty? They are cleaned 4 times a week. The aim of a trout farm is to give tourists, or people who have never fished a great opportunity to. We have to keep the ponds heavily stocked in busy periods, or else people would be complaining about coming to a trout farm and catching no fish?? I wish in the future for other businesses, you would chat with the issues then and there rather then depreciating their business. We all try very hard, to make sure people have fun and their day is full of enjoyment which in 99% of the case it is. Thankyou for your opinion.
