No Red Rock balloons

I don't know where all these pictures come from of baloons floating over the red rock canyons but we didn't go any where near the red rocks. I asked the pilot and he said they don't fly near Sedona because there is no place to land. It was a nice balloon ride and the staff was great but all we did was fly over desert west of Sedona. So be prepared. A lot of money for basic balloon ride.

We thoroughly enjoyed our sunrise hot air balloon ride over the mountains in Sedona! The view was incredible! I am afraid of extreme heights, but in the balloon basket at 4000 feet I was not afraid and felt very comfortable and safe. The entire Red Rock staff were so friendly and nice but also very competent and experienced. I highly recommend taking a sunrise balloon ride with them while in Sedona

As a kid, I always had a dream to go on a hot air balloon ride, I finally did it at 55. It was everything I dreamed it to be. It was so beautiful and peacefully. If you are reading this and are afraid of heights, do it aways. My husband has a fear of heights, and he loved it.

Red Rock Balloons is a class act.... I would highly recommend them..

Canadians don't book with them!

CANADIANS BEWARE! We lost $30 on exchange due to cancellation and never received anything from this company! We booked a ride with Red Rock Balloons, got up up 5:30am and got to their office at 6:15am as instructed. The office was dark and we stood out in the cold for 15 minutes with no information. Finally we got a text saying it was cancelled due to wind.

Now this is something you as a customer should be aware of and what the owner, Mark, told me a few hours later during a phone call. Hot air balloon rides get cancelled often and at the very last minute due to weather conditions. I actually didn't know how common cancellations were until I started doing more research.

I know the weather isn't their fault, but if cancellations are such a frequent occurrence in your industry, you could list that in the FAQ of your website before putting $350 USD down upfront. Or at the very least list in the booking confirmation email that a ride is not guaranteed and depends on weather, that last minute cancellations occur. As a small business owner myself, this is what's called expectation management.

So, of course as a Canadian I ended up spending closer to $600 CAD on this activity because after you pay the $350 USD, they then ask you to TIP on top of that (despite it being the owner who takes you up in the balloons...) The minimum tip option presented ends up being another $50 USD. Anyway, they charge you a lot of money upfront before you even receive any service and then when they inevitably cancel, which is common, you lose on the exchange.

My friend and I each lost $30 all for the privilege of waking up at 5:30am, driving all the way there and never receiving anything.

Their competitor, Northern Light Expeditions, takes your credit card info but only charges you once you go up in the balloon. To me, this is much more reasonable and protects them if you are a no-show, but also prevents you from losing money on the exchange or being out hundreds of dollars for a couple months.

The owner, Mark, was so ignorant as to claim he knows "nothing about the exchange" and told me to write all the negative reviews that I want.

I think the feedback I've provided stating that he should provide some warning about cancellations on his website before booking and only charging when the service is rendered is completely reasonable and doable, and he didn't want to hear any of what I had to say.

Hotels don't charge until the date of reservation. Many excursions don't charge until they begin.

Again, as a small business owner myself, I would feel terrible if my systems and business practices ended up causing harm and resulting in customers losing money. $60 is a lot of money to lose and receive nothing, and he could easily change the way he's doing things.

To me it says a lot about not caring about people. Anyway, I've learned a lesson about travelling and not paying for things upfront. Had I known this was what was going to happen, I never would have booked with this company. Just warning everyone else.

We booked the sunrise tour on our recent trip to Sedona. At first we were a little worried because there are up to 16 people on the balloon, four per pod, but I will tell you we didn't feel cramped at all. The pilot can rotate the balloon so you never miss a great view. Our pilot was Casey, he is awesome. He ensured everyone had fun, answered any questions, and clearly has great experience pilotting a hot air balloon.

From start to finish Red Rock Balloons does a great job. I would HIGHLY recommend if you can afford the trip to take it. My wife and I have done many excusions all over the world and this is one we will not forget.

Amazing experience!

We flew on February. It was unforgettable experience with knowledgeable team. Lots of fun and beautiful views…And champagne on the ground after! Highly recommended this company.

The Best Balloon experience

This was my first time in a hot air balloon. What a beautiful area of red rock and vistas. During this time of year it was cold on the ground but not up in the sky. The crew was great. Our captain Casey had years of balloon experience he was amazing and funny.. It was very safe We had two balloons. To top it off we joined the whole group for champagne after and received a lovely DVD.

Absolutely spectacular time flying with Red Rock Balloons. The pilot and crew take care of everything and the view of Sedona from the sky cannot be beat! Mark was our pilot and he was wonderful! So knowledgeable and entertaining. I would 100% recommend this experience with Red Rock Balloon!

The flight with Red Rock Balloons was the highlight of our trip to Sedona. A few of us were a bit nervous about going up in ballon, but there was nothing to fear at all. Mark, our pilot, was a pro, so knowledgeable about ballooning and the topography of Sedona. He was funny, engaging and a class act.
The ride was smooth, and majestic. If you are thinking of taking a ride, but are wondering if it is worth it…. It definitely is. You won’t be disappointed.
