Great place to learn about the start of the Industrial Revolution in the United States, about how water wheels were used to power mills, and about the first workers strike in the United States.

It was a beautiful little spot in town, plenty of free parking. We enjoyed our time here. However not a single workers spoke to any of us (4adults) not even a hello.
The inside of the mill looked nice… through the visitor center window but… can’t go inside of it unless you are with a tour group, done only at special hours. I’d recommend checking ahead on those times on a website 1st to better your experience here. The property was quite nice to walk near the river & it was nice to read signs on the history of the place.

The tour by ranger Owen Marshall was fascinating. He is a treasure of knowledge and informed interpretation, emphasizing the social history of the milling industry but also able to explain details of the mechanics. He expertly fielded diverse questions, admitted inadequate knowledge a few times, and got help from another ranger on some facts. Child labor is a concept, but visiting a site of it and witnessing how it operated turns it almost into a personal experience.

The tour by Ranger Allison was absolutely first rate. Her knowledge about Samuel Slater and the innovation he brought to RI is encyclopedic. The NPS took over this site a couple of years ago so even if you visited in the past you should go again.

A great place to learn about how the Industrial Revolution began in America with an overview film as well as guided Ranger tours. Be aware that the buildings are not air conditioned, so can get hot. Easy on and off I-95.

Visited on the weekend, we missed the cotton mill tour time, but enjoyed the outside exhibit areas. The other buildings were closed. The river views were pretty. Their were some picnic benches in the grassy area behind the main visitor center building and the river. We picked up a Blackstone river corridor national park passport stamping book that highlighted other sites, some large than the slater mill.

Unfortunately it was closed but we could walk around the place and take picture of the buildings as well as the dam.

As my wife & I continued from our stay at the Christopher Dodge House, part of our grand plan of our Fall Foliage road trip was to stop at the Slater Mill Museum. Well, we came too early around 8:30, as the Museum opens at 10 am.
We walked around the historic site, enjoyed the mill, the waterfall and the building. The Slater Mill sits next to the Black Stone River, which is one of the beautiful scenic river for fall foliage.
Good place to visit.

Fascinating, a "must do" for paranormal experiences. Johnson brothers, known for famous hauntings, are hosts.

This is a beautiful little spot on the Blackstone River. Historical buildings and nice small park. Unfortunately, due to winter hours, the buildings were closed when I there but I still enjoyed

How much walking is involved in the tour? My mother has a bad knee that limits her mobility.

All the buildings are within a few yards of each other. There are some stairs involved to enter/exit the house and mills. The parking lot is located across the entrance road, so really not much walking is involved. You are standing/walking for an hour, or a bit more.
