We are group 4 friends…all of us in our late 60s. This was so much fun… Easier than you think. We had one person who was concerned about going through the tunnels… But she had no issues. It really is a great activity. Some people were worried about the water being cold… In March, but it was just fine. You get acclimated to it within a few seconds. Our guide was T. She was great… Very knowledgeable, fun and made sure everything went smoothly. I was worried about being able to get in and out of the tubes/water easily… They made it very easy. Perfectly fine for a bunch of senior citizens. But it is great for people younger than us too. Everyone had a great time. Go and have fun.

Amazing tour. The cave tunnels are so neat and such beautiful plants and mountains views. Uso was the absolute best tour guide you could ask for. He’s super knowledgeable and so fun! If you’re looking for a tour with a great vibe, ask for him!

Bryan and the ladies were the best guides ever! If you don’t get Bryan as your guide then you are missing out. He was funny, knowledgeable, and good at making everyone feel comfortable. We had a group of 10, age ranges from 6 to 65. Backcountry tubing through tunnels is an experience you don’t want to miss out on! 10 out of 10!

Thank you, Kirsten, for the great time mountain tubing! Lots of fun facts about Kauai on our way up the mountain and tubing through the irrigation tunnels was a unique experience!

Jacob was very funny and very knowledgeable. He made us feel safe and taught about this part of the island. We had a fun group and enjoyed the tour of the canals and tunnels. All the staff was professional and helpful. This tour was more fun than Disneyland. You get to see a part of this island through this tour that you would not see otherwise. It was nice to get a history of the island that you would not get in any other way. Jacob rocks!

This was more fun than I honestly thought it was going to be. Our guide Makana was amazing and super funny! This was a perfect mix of lazy and crazy river vibes! The tunnels were really cool. Definitely recommend booking this if you are visiting Kauai!

We flew in for the day from the Big Island to do the tubing adventure. Our guide Chelsea was amazing she made our day so fun along with her crew Malu and Blake. Thank you for making the trip worth while! The views were so beautiful and the ride down the mountain spectacular! Definitely recommend this adventure to everyone visiting Kauai. This was a fun adventure to do as a couple or a family! Bryan, our tour guide was so fun and full of historical facts! He was quick witted and very friendly and knowledgeable! We would recommend this adventure to all! We own a condo in Poipu and will be letting our guests know this is considered a favorite!

This was way more fun than we had anticipated. Full of information about the history of the company and the island and the staff made us laugh the entire time. They have got the system down and everything went smoothly. The light lunch at the end of the tour hit the spot.

How far away from the cruise port, where th Ruby Princess is docked?

I would think it’s not terribly far if your dock is near the airport. The adventure begins at their building, only maybe 5 minutes from the airport. So maybe 10 minutes Uber ride??? It’ll be worth it. It was so much fun and a very different unusual tubing experience! Have fun! An airplane (much cheaper than a helicopter) ride around the island was also a very cool experience. Smith family luau was very nice too.

It’s not far from the dock. You can Uber there. It books up weeks in advance so be sure to book early.

I would bring a small backpack to put your stuff in. You will get wet, so you may want to bring a towel too. There is a bin to put your belongings in and they have someone there to watch the bins while you are tubing.

They have large bins for your personal items on-site and they bring the bins with them along the trip. Recommended items to bring with you are a plastic waterproof phone case, towel(s), change of clothes and sunblock.

Why are all the early day times booked? Is the 1:30-2:30 time slot not preferred for some reason? Is it the lunch? If we book at 2 can we just skip the lunch and leave early…we have a 6 pm dinner booked. Thanks ;)

Don’t see a way for you to leave early as you must their vans to the location & back. The ride through the jungle is part of the attraction. It’s a full 3 hours. You might want to book an earlier time slot if you have dinner plans. We booked 8:20am and were done by noon.

If flying to Kauai for the day to do tubing adventure, is it easy to get a transfer from Lihue Airport. Also, duration of adventure, from check in time to be finished is it 3 hours? Thanks in advance.

As mentioned, Kauai Backcountry is a short 20-30 minute ride form the airport; close to Lihue Airport. The Tubing adventure is about 3 hours, strat to finish, including the intorductiory briefing, transport to the "fields," and your tubing adventure. A snack lunch is served at the conclusion. If you're flying in and out the same day, I'd plan for a MINIMUM of 5-6 hours between arrival and departure.

They say there's a weight limit of 300 lbs for the tubing and that anyone outside that won't be able to participate. I'm a hiker and just a big guy in general, so I'm outside that range, but had no problem problem whatsoever. They were great and it was an absolute blast. Highly recommended. I think the regulation is more about mobility and overall fitness/safety than a hard and fast cut off.

How long does it take to complete this tubing adventure? 1 hour? It looks fun though.

It's a couple hours, I think about 3. It's a 30 minute drive to and from the checkin. Our tour guide, Lucky, filled that with awesome info and jokes. We stopped briefly for a photo op against Mt Wailali There's quick safety briefing when you get to the river. The river portion takes about an hour or so (best hour of your day) and then there's a stop afterwards for lunch.
Worth every penny. Ask for Lucky. He's amazing.
