Interesting build
нояб. 2021 г.
Interesting how they built this on top of a mountain to fortify their living spaces. This is a lesser known National Monument but is very well kept, like Montezuma Castle is.

Educational Monument
сент. 2021 г. • Для двоих
A bit out of the way but well worth the visit. This park is educational and provides some good history of the area. On a hot day, take a sun hat with you. Climb to the top and check out the way they lived. Take the time and check this monument out.

Worth a quick stop
авг. 2021 г.
Another unexpected "target of opportunity" that I did not expect. Stopped by to visit before boarding the Verde Canyon Railroad. A nice museum that explains the history of the site and how it was excavated. A short walk to the ruins that you walk thru. The path is a bit steep so folks with mobility issues might have a problem. Well worth a quick stop.

Interesting. Maybe Enlightening.

This is difficult call, as the value in this depends, so much, on the mind-set of the visitor. If you like history, if you're inspired or maybe made thoughtful by walking in the footsteps of those that lived a thousand years before you, seeing the same vistas that they saw, then this is for you.
IF you or your kids will be unimpressed by a bunch of old walls (and a small museum) and will just run around, you have to decide if the price is worth it (although kids under 16 are free).
We bought the Lifetime pass for $80 last year at the Montezuma Castle (an associated site) and so, for us, this was "free" with that pass - and an easy 1 or 2 mile drive from the Main St Cottonwood/Broadway Clarkdale road, so it was an easy decision for us. It sits on the top of a hill in a bend in the Verde River and the settlement/village spread down the hills. You can walk in the 'restored/improved' (stairs, some kind of roof) building at the top of the hill, and walk on a paved pathway that encircles it.
The guide/ranger/volunteer guy in said the settlement began about 1150 and disappeared around 1300.
The pottery in the museum is re-assembled from smaller shards like some insane puzzles.
It is not really clear - or maybe I didn't take the time to find out - how much of ruin is the original excavation and how much is "reconstruction re-imagined" in the 1930's - but still, it's a nice, short walk, even in the 111 degree heat!

Often Overlooked
май 2021 г. • Семейный отдых
A small comprehensible look back in time. Museum is small but interesting. The ruins have 1/3 mile walkway around them giving a great idea of how people lived.
Caution the walkway around the reconstructive ruins Is very hilly. I would not recommend it for people who have heart of breathing problems.

Tuzigoot, Another Must Stop for History Buffs....
апр. 2021 г.
This was our first visit to Arizona and the Sedona area. Our first full day of touring bought us to Clarkdale, Jerome, and Cottonwood....And of course, Tuzigoot National Monument.

We bought our passes in the giftshop/interpretive center than headed to check out the grounds. As you hike up the hill to the main area you have wonderful views of the surrounding landscape.

The grounds are laid out to show the ancient building site and is well maintained by the Park Service....A stop worth taking.

Not a bad visit.
май 2021 г. • Для двоих
Not a bad little spot for a visit. We were able to view the whole thing in about 15 minutes and it’s not a long walk at all to the monument, but it is an uphill walk.

It was $10 per person which if it were just to view this monument I wouldn’t say it was worth it, but it also gave us access to the Montezuma National Monument down the road which made the price worth while.

I will say the view from up top is nice!

Well laid out- easy to access

If choosing between Tuzigoot or Montezuma, choose Montezuma. We went to both and didn't regret it but they have similar histories.

Bad ruin reproduction
май 2021 г.
We visited this ruin in May 2021. It was not crowded. The reproduction of the ruin, using today's building material, was horrible. Total waste of time to visit.
