Yellowstone in winter is special, the guides are great, the food is delicious, and the yurt camp is really comfortable. We cross-country skied in beautiful winter surroundings and saw numerous thermal features. The staff is extraordinary--very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a special place.
This is the way Yellowstone should be experienced in the Winter. Arden, Nadia, Connie, and crew take care of all your backcountry XC-skiing needs including gourmet quality food, ski touring/route guiding, comfortable/warm Yurtlets and beds, and taking us to places ONLY accessible by skis. We saw bison, eagles, pristine valleys and views, otters, and a coyote even visited us where we were having our lunch in the backcountry. The guides are PROFESSIONAL and the service EXCEPTIONAL.
After booking this trip I was both excited and little terrified because I had never done anything like this before. It was fantastic. The crew have thought through every single detail to make sure that every single person had fun, and fell in love with the park. The crew are thoughtful, knowledgeable, kind, -and they were excellent in their help and guidance with me, who has never been on skiis or snowshoes. I left loving both activities and wanting more, more, more. The crew clearly love Yellowstone and want to share their love and insight with every visitor. The camp is so clean and warm and comfortable, this Virginia girl had no reason to worry. The food was so very good, and they accommodated every allergy or dietary need. The camp even offers rustic showers and a sauna if you arr so inclined! And the park. Beautiful. Breathtaking. Filled with life and wonder. Filled with magic and stories. Filled with glorious peace. I showed my daughter my pictures and all she could talk about what how very happy I looked. I sure was! And I would go back tomorrow if I could.…
We came to Yellowstone Expeditions with a BIT of anxiety, having never skied while joining folks that have skied most of their lives. We love the outdoors, tent camping and kayaking whenever we can. So, when friends mentioned their experience of Yellowstone in the winter, we thought, why not. We couldn’t have been more impressed and pleased with our experience. In our five days, we met the finest people, both our guides and guests, as we gathered for meals and comradery. Scenery and animal sightings exceeded our expectations. Every day we were challenged to improve our “skiing skills” while traveling through some of the most impressive backcountry Yellowstone has to offer. The positive encouragement each day to push our envelop, was rewarding when we actually made some recognizable advancement, though not without a few awkward falls and attempts to get up. Great memories all. We’d like to give a shout out to our fantastic guides Nadia camp leader, Piper, Risa, Sage, Julie and Connie, our camp chef. Thanks for a most memorable visit, Jim & Wilma.…
We spent four days and three nights at the Yurt Camp. The staff is excellent, the food is amazing, and the skiing is outstanding. Being able to ski over virgin snow without a hint of anyone else having been there made us feel special. The staff was attentive to our skiing ability to make sure the daily outings met our skill level. We had lunch during each day's outing. Each day was different. One day skiing open areas, another day visiting thermal areas, and on the last day skiing through forests. The breakfasts and dinners were sumptuous. Even had homemade ice cream for our last evening's dessert. If you like cross-country skiing, beautiful snowy scenery, and adventure, this is the place to be in winder.
